DIGGING DEEP NO 204
THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM - PART 1

INTRODUCTION:

Of all the Old Testament born of a woman, there is no other man that could claim to be more blessed by God than Abraham. Why did God single him our for such a tremendous blessing? What did he do to earn so much blessing? Are there lessons for us today from his life? These and other questions will be answered in this series in Jesus Name. May the Lord quicken our understanding as we study in Jesus Name. Amen.

1. DIVINE BLESSINGS ARE OFTEN CONDITIONAL
While Abraham's call was bases purely on Divine compassion,
Today, there is and open invitation to anyone who wants to follow God to do so. Initially, God gave Abraham seven promises but these were conditional on his obeying three commandments of God.

Gen. 11:26; 12:1-3; Rom. 9: 14-15; Matt. 11: 29-30. Isa. 55:1; John 3: 16; John 7:37; Isa. 52: 11; Isa. 1:19.

2. INCOMPLETE OBEDIENCE ALWAYS LEADS TO TROUBLES.

Abraham obeyed two out of the three conditions given him by God. Instead of blessings, he walked straight into troubles. But God is faithful. He came to the rescue of the disobedient Abraham but He did not bless him until his obedience was complete.

Gen 12:4-5; 12;10; Gen. 12: 11-13; Gen. 12: 14-15; Rom 3:3-4; Gen 12:17-20; Gen. 13:1; Gen. 13:7; Gen. 13:8-9; Gen. 3:10- 13; Gen. 3: 14-17.
